Respect or Reject

Respect or Reject 2019 – Q1 -Thinking about buying Anthem? Don’t.

Respect or Reject?

Hello Gamers and welcome back to AButtonGames! We’ve been dormant for a while but we are back for a new type of article; our first new piece of Respect or Reject!

We know a lot of gamers (smart gamers) wait to see reviews before running out and buying a game on release day. Bugs need to be hammered out, releases flop, and things just don’t live up to the hype (Ahem, Fallout 76). So we are here to compile a list of the best and worst games of 2019 so far. So here comes the meat, get ready for Respect or Reject!

TL;DR

Respect

  • Apex Legends
  • Slay the Spire
  • Metro Exodus
  • Kingdom Hearts III
  • Call of Duty – Black Ops 4

Reject

  • Anthem
  • Fallout 76
  • Vane
  • Crackdown 3
  • Onimusha: Warlords

Fallout 76 – Reject

This is probably the most disheartening and tragic reject on this list. We know that Fallout 76 was not released in 2019 Q1 but we couldn’t exclude such a heavy downfall from this list.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy – Delayed

Release Date: November 13, 2018

Developer: Toys for Bob

Publisher: Activision

Series: Spyro

Genre: Platform Game, Adventure

Platforms: Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch

Delayed!

Toy’s for Bob has recently announced the delay of the trilogy by 2 months. Bad news for those itching to jump right into their childhood nostalgia. The co-head of Toy’s for Bob states: “We’re deeply committed to getting these games right, so we’ve decided to move the release date of Spyro Reignited Trilogy to November 13, 2018.”. With all the work and deep commitment to graphical improvements… we don’t blame them. Yan is hoping the fans will forgive him: “In November when you’re exploring the Dragon Realms, Avalar, and the Forgotten Worlds, we know you’ll agree the extra time was worth the wait.”

AButtonGames Take

I think everybody who owned a Playstation 1 is excited for the Reignition of Spyro (I know I am psyched). Get ready for some charging, burning, and all around awesome dragon shennanigans coming up at the end of 2018. Why can’t it be sooner?! Toys for Bob is recreating not only the original but 3 classic Spyro games including: Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon. Good news for all of you Xbox and Nintendo owners: It’s also going to be released for you too! This trilogy will be playable for children and also all of you 90s babies who want a little (or a lot) of Spyro nastaglia.

Bayonetta 3

Bayonetta 3

Release Date: TBD

Series: Bayonetta

Developer: Platinum Games

Genre(s)‎: ‎Action‎, ‎hack and slash

Platform: Nintendo Switch

Description:

“Bayonetta 3 is an upcoming action game in development by Platinum Games, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. It is the third entry in the Bayonetta series, following Bayonetta 2 in 2014, and was revealed to be in development alongside Nintendo Switch ports of the original Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2.” –bayonetta.wikia.com

“The past two games were renowned for their over-the-top action and spectacular style. Levels saw Bayonetta fighting towering behemoths across different dimensions with an assortment of ridiculous weapons. Skills could be upgraded as you progressed in a similar manner to Devil May Cry, a series Bayonetta draws much of its inspiration from.

It’s unclear how similar Bayonetta 3 will be in terms of setting and mechanics, but our money is on Platinum Games expanding upon its existing formula with an even crazier combination of levels, enemies and combat.”

Metroid Prime 4

Metroid Prime 4

Release date: TBD

Series: Metroid

Publisher: Nintendo

Genre(s)‎: ‎Action-adventure

Platforms: Switch

“Metroid Prime 4 news – what’s the latest?

E3 2018 has been and gone without a mention of Metroid Prime 4. So what’s going on with it? In a recent interview with Game Informer, Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime said that Prime 4 is “still in development and proceeding well” despite radio silence.

‘Last year was important to us to message to the Metroid fan that there was a Metroid Prime experience in development, as we showed Metroid: Samus Returns for the 3DS. We didn’t want that fan to say “You just launched a new system, when are you going to bring me a Metroid on that platform?” We said it was coming. This year, with so many games launching effectively between [now] and the first half of next year, we wanted to focus on those games. Rest assured, Metroid Prime 4 is still in development and proceeding well.’”

Description:

“Metroid Prime 4 was briefly announced via a logo shown during Nintendo’s E3 2017 broadcast. During a media pre-briefing, journalists asked Nintendo exactly who was behind the game. Nintendo declined to reply, except to say that Retro Studios, which created the original Metroid Prime Trilogy, was not behind the project.

Since then, speculation has been rife over who was working on Metroid Prime 4, but nothing more has been announced about the game since.” –Eurogamer.net

July Top 10 – That Blue Erinaceidae Rockets to the Top

Hey there gamers, July has come and gone and it sure went by fast. If you missed all the new game releases, don't worry because AButtonGames has your back. We have taken the liberty of compiling a list of the top 10 games for each console!

May & June Game Releases – 21 Days of Games!

Hey there gamers! Over the past month or so there have been quite a few game releases included a good host of games released today (6/5/2018). Some of them are hot and some are... not so much. Bigger titles can be found on meta reviews but we want to cover some smaller titles or games we just otherwise missed!

Dark Souls Remastered 2 - Praise

Dark Souls Remastered – Meta Review – Simply Beautiful

Hey there souls fans, if you aren't out there buying this remaster right now... then I'm sure you are contemplating whether buying this classic remaster is worth it (like I am right now). From the looks of things, it just might be. There is a massive improvement in texture quality and performance with almost everything else staying the same. With this new release massive amounts of people will be playing online (the lack thereof is what made me stop playing), so get in while it's hot. Watch out for LokiAdvanced though or you might just end up with a dagger in your back.

Battle Chasers: Nightwar

Battle Chasers: Nightwar for Switch – Meta-Review – Epic JRPG on the Go!

Although it was released on PC and consoles at the end of last year we still appreciate the late release to switch. Battle Chasers: Nightwar is an epic JRPG that got a pretty good rating before and we don't expect it to change much for the switch. Oh? You haven't even played it yet? Well you are in luck because now that it's out for switch we can observe it again and hopefully some bugs have been hammered out.

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire – Meta-Review – Open Sea Sequel!

Hey RPG fans, if you still own your PS2 just to play Baldur's Gate or Champions of Norrath, then come back to 2018 because Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is what you have been looking for. Although you might want to start with the prequel if you haven't played that yet (you don't have to... but it will probably make the game experience better). Not only it have the best RPG elements that give us that nostalgic feeling but you are also the captain of a ship and can sail the ocean! Sounds like a great mix, and other critics agree.

KirbyStarAllies

Kirby Star Allies – Meta-Review – Bring a Friend!

Grab a partner, or 4 of them and get ready for some Kirby action! Don't worry if you don't have any friend to play with though, the game has a good AI system to control your in-game allies. Nintendo hasn't done anything revolutionary but the multiplayer and full HD graphics is awesome and it looks like a great time. Play with you significant other, kid, or just some friends. Check out the review snippets below!

AttackOnTitan2

Attack on Titan 2 – Kill Those Titans!

The Attack on Titan 2 game is based on the anime series and features engaging battles with giant humanoid creatures known as Titans. It has a large collection of characters and RPG elements for character development. It seems the game is basically a mix-up of the story told in Attack On Titan season 1 with some season 2 thrown in. From what I can see the game is very fun and had smooth game-play.

Fear Effect Sedna

Fear Effect Sedna Meta-Review – Dead on Arrival

Almost a month has passed since this sequel was released and I haven't heard a single good thing. AButtonGames has yet to give it a go but we are reluctant to do so. It seems that the game suffers from some pretty heavy gameplay issues, over-simplified A.I. patterns, and terrible voice acting. This game is cringy and we haven't even played it yet. If you are a die hard fan I would suggest that you wait for the best deal possible, rent it, or just forget it exists. We have determined that Fear Effect Sedna is Dead on Arrival - or as Game Informer would put it "Dead on Revival".
