Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2 – Take it slow and your good to go.

If you haven't had a chance to dive into the latest and greatest Rockstar hit, then I suggest going for it now! Rockstar Games seems to really hit the nail on the head with Red Dead Redemption 2. Who doesn't love a good western shooter!? But RDR2 is so much more than that. AButtonGames was previously featured in a Twitch live stream by Tacklinator88.

Ashen

Ashen – Dark Soul’s Cousin

Ashen ha proven to be a a hit with many great endorsements and reviews. I might be a little biased but any game with a Dark Soul's like game play is worth trying out. It has a fallen-world feel, epic boss battles, and some interesting cooperative play. Unfortunately AButtonGames has yet to make a play through but this is on our list.

Respect or Reject

Respect or Reject 2019 – Q1 -Thinking about buying Anthem? Don’t.

Respect or Reject?

Hello Gamers and welcome back to AButtonGames! We’ve been dormant for a while but we are back for a new type of article; our first new piece of Respect or Reject!

We know a lot of gamers (smart gamers) wait to see reviews before running out and buying a game on release day. Bugs need to be hammered out, releases flop, and things just don’t live up to the hype (Ahem, Fallout 76). So we are here to compile a list of the best and worst games of 2019 so far. So here comes the meat, get ready for Respect or Reject!

TL;DR

Respect

  • Apex Legends
  • Slay the Spire
  • Metro Exodus
  • Kingdom Hearts III
  • Call of Duty – Black Ops 4

Reject

  • Anthem
  • Fallout 76
  • Vane
  • Crackdown 3
  • Onimusha: Warlords

Fallout 76 – Reject

This is probably the most disheartening and tragic reject on this list. We know that Fallout 76 was not released in 2019 Q1 but we couldn’t exclude such a heavy downfall from this list.

gamestop - wasted

Gamestop is Falling From Grace

With so many major stores going out of business the aphorism: “too big to fail” is turning into a joke. Online businesses are taking over the economy and store fronts are starting to contain too much overhead cost to match up with these online vendors. Gamestop has been a staple for all gamers since before Nintendo was released but now things seem to be declining for this major vendor as they fall behind in the digital retail world.

Early Access All Star: Chronicon

Chronicon is an early access dungeon crawler that takes clear inspiration from Diablo. Lots of fun, super cheap and well worth a look!

God of War

It may just be me but I think most people have heard lot’s of positive feedback on the new God of War game (2018). With stellar reviews from all of the large review sites (a whopping 94/100 on metacritic) God of War is definitely in the running for Game of the Year. Here at AButtonGames we agree with this assessment and have mostly good words to say about it.

August – Top 5 Games!

August passed by in a flash, but that doesn't mean we aren't still playing the big titles that released. If you weren't hiding under a rock you will probably already know about Dead Cells and Guacamelee but lets take a look at which games made the top for each category!

Total War The Three Kingdoms

Total War: The Three Kingdoms – Delayed

Release date: Spring 2019

Developer: Creative Assembly

Publisher: SEGA

Genre: Strategy, Action, War, RTS

Platforms: Microsoft Windows

AButtonGames Take

Total War: The Three Kingdoms has announced they will be going a different direction than previous games. It seems they will be focusing more on developing characters, alliances, and relationships. This is a different approach and we will have to see how it works coming next spring… uhg that seems so long. But hopefully this will be well polished and ready to hit the charts by then.

Delayed

“If the original Total War: Three Kingdoms release date had stuck then the game would be nearly upon us. Three Kingdoms was first scheduled for autumn this year – though with May’s Thrones of Britannia to tide us over, it wasn’t too painful when Three Kingdoms was delayed. Now it’s set to arrive in spring 2019.” -pcgamer

Description

“Total War: THREE KINGDOMS is the next major historical Total War game and is the first game in the award-winning series to take place in China. The Three Kingdoms period is one of the most turbulent times in Chinese history. The Han Dynasty is crumbling; the stage is set for a great new epoch, forged by the fires of conquest – the time to establish your legacy is now. But with many warlords eyeing the throne, each with a large army to back up their claim, it’s clear that the future of China will be shaped by its champions.” –totalwar.com

Ghost Of Tsushima

Ghost Of Tsushima

Release date: TBD

Developer: Sucker Punch Productions

Genre: Action-Adventure

Platform: PlayStation 4

AButtonGames Take

Sucker Punch is going a different direction from Infamous, and quite frankly we are excited here at AButtonGames. After the 2018 E3 preview it looks like some awesome stealthy samurai action in feudal japan. The combat looks pretty intricate with emphasis on dodging, parrying, and avoiding damage rather than mindlessly exchanging blows. There has been no official release date and we doubt this will be released in 2018 like originally thought. Look below for Sucker Punch’s game description and some sneak previews.

Description

“The year is 1274. Samurai warriors are the legendary defenders of Japan—until the fearsome Mongol Empire invades the island of Tsushima, wreaking havoc and conquering the local population. As one of the last surviving samurai, you rise from the ashes to fight back. But honorable tactics won’t lead you to victory. You must move beyond your samurai traditions to forge a new way of fighting—the way of the Ghost—as you wage an unconventional war for the freedom of Japan.” –suckerpunch.com

Developer: Toys for Bob

Publisher: Activision

Delayed!

Toy’s for Bob has recently announced the delay of the trilogy by 2 months. Bad news for those itching to jump right into their childhood nostalgia. The co-head of Toy’s for Bob states: “We’re deeply committed to getting these games right, so we’ve decided to move the release date of Spyro Reignited Trilogy to November 13, 2018.”. With all the work and deep commitment to graphical improvements… we don’t blame them. Yan is hoping the fans will forgive him: “In November when you’re exploring the Dragon Realms, Avalar, and the Forgotten Worlds, we know you’ll agree the extra time was worth the wait.”

AButtonGames Take

I think everybody who owned a Playstation 1 is excited for the Reignition of Spyro (I know I am psyched). Get ready for some charging, burning, and all around awesome dragon shennanigans coming up at the end of 2018. Why can’t it be sooner?! Toys for Bob is recreating not only the original but 3 classic Spyro games including: Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon. Good news for all of you Xbox and Nintendo owners: It’s also going to be released for you too! This trilogy will be playable for children and also all of you 90s babies who want a little (or a lot) of Spyro nastaglia.

Game Descriptions

Star Citizen

Star Citizen

Release: TBA

Engine: Amazon Lumberyard

Developer: Cloud Imperium Games

Designer: Chris Roberts

Genre: Space-flight Simulation, FPS, Open World, MMORPG

Platforms: Microsoft Windows, Linux

Composers: Pedro Camacho, Geoff Zanelli

Releasing?

“Star Citizen was originally due for a commercial release in 2016, which was then pushed back to 2017 but, as we know, it didn’t appear in 2017 either. The original delay was said to be due to the team working on getting one of the game’s 28 chapters to release quality so it could showcase it, but that would suggest there is still a long way to go if there are another 27 chapters to finish afterwards.

Following the delays, Star Citizen’s creator Chris Roberts went on record to state that the game won’t have a ‘normal commercial release’ which suggests to us that the game will become available in big chunks over time.

There’s still no real timeline though – fan sites suggest a 2018 launch could be possible, but honestly, given the scale of the project and how badly the current alpha performs, we wouldn’t be surprised if it’s still at least a year away from launch, if not two.”

Bayonetta 3

Bayonetta 3

Release Date: TBD

Series: Bayonetta

Developer: Platinum Games

Genre(s)‎: ‎Action‎, ‎hack and slash

Platform: Nintendo Switch

Description:

“Bayonetta 3 is an upcoming action game in development by Platinum Games, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. It is the third entry in the Bayonetta series, following Bayonetta 2 in 2014, and was revealed to be in development alongside Nintendo Switch ports of the original Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2.” –bayonetta.wikia.com

“The past two games were renowned for their over-the-top action and spectacular style. Levels saw Bayonetta fighting towering behemoths across different dimensions with an assortment of ridiculous weapons. Skills could be upgraded as you progressed in a similar manner to Devil May Cry, a series Bayonetta draws much of its inspiration from.

It’s unclear how similar Bayonetta 3 will be in terms of setting and mechanics, but our money is on Platinum Games expanding upon its existing formula with an even crazier combination of levels, enemies and combat.”
