Let me preface this by saying this is no way a review of the game. This is (hopefully) not indicative of the final product but should be noticed.
Metal Gear Survive is the latest entry (Spinoff?) to use the Metal Gear Solid name. This game will release today 2/20/2018. However, you may have noticed the lack of early reviews. Normally, this is due to some embargo or lack of reviewer copies. However, this is not the case. Many of the normal review outlets received their copies in a timely fashion with one major issue. Like a lot of games these days, Metal Gear Survive requires a constant internet connection to play (horrayyyyy) and unfortunately for reviewers, the games servers were not turned on until the release date. Meaning, sure you ‘could’ install the game ahead of time, but would be unable to play until release. It is hard to say if this was just an oversite or a blatant way to ‘accidentally’ enforce a review embargo without actually having one.
Luckily, the game does release today and you can expect to see reviews on most outlets first thing! Hopefully, the lack of thought put into this decision does not translate into the game itself.
Is it too much to ask that for a game to demand a constant internet connection, that the company does the same?
Anyway, Konami’s Metal Gear Survive is set to release on 2/20/18 for Playstation 4, Xbox one and Windows.
As a side note, for our site, we will attempt to publish small articles like this regularly about the current happenings in the industry. We will attempt to keep them short, sweet and to the point. Let us know what you think!
